Fire and Injury Prevention Educators' Network

Fire and Injury Prevention Educators' Network

The Alberta Fire & Injury Prevention Educators’ Network (FIPEN) currently operates as a group of representatives from Alberta's fire service, Alberta Emergency Management Agency, Alberta Fire Chiefs Association, Alberta Firefighters Association and the Alberta Centre for Injury Control & Research. FIPEN's mission is to contribute to a reduction in the frequency and severity of fires and injuries in Alberta, to make fire and injury prevention education a priority for the Alberta fire/emergency services, and to recognize and reduce gaps in fire and injury prevention education.

FIPEN has completed and presented a set of recommendations to the AEMA. The AEMA is currently developing an action plan. A key element in FIPEN will be the creation of a network of educators who will deliver consistent and quality fire and injury prevention programs at the community level. Further updates will be provided as progress is made on this initiative.
